Start-up Blu Homes has raised a round of $60 million to promote a variety of modular homes that are more energy efficient and more sustainable in their construction than most traditional homes. Blu Home’s houses are built in a factory in Vallejo, CA, and then shipped to the customer’s location and assembled on site.

Vinod Khosla: Y Combinator Startups Need Help, Not Hype
According to Vinod Khosla, a well-known venture capitalist, angel investors and incubators do not provide enough assistance nor do they encourage startups to think big enough. Some startups struggle with becoming major companies because of a lack of assistance and an over-hyped mentality. While Khosla believes that angels investors are good for running experiments, he believes entrepreneurs need more than just money to be successful.

EV Lovers Charged Up For National Plug In Day
Sept. 23 is National Plug In Day and organizers are expecting at least twice as many cities hosting events as compared to 2011. The day is organized at the national level by Plug In America, the Sierra Club and the Electric Auto Association, but local groups across the country will actually be putting on the events. Check out the event’s web page for a list of events and activities – the Orange County event will be held at Mitsubishi in Cypress.
