Clint Wilder, senior editor of Clean Edge and co-author of The Clean Tech Revolution, shares his views about why clean energy should be a major campaign issue. His article boils down to jobs – clean energy jobs are the source of livelihood for millions of Americans across the county. A prime example is the wind tax credit which is set to expire at the end of the year – the national Republican party opposes the extension – which will ultimately lead to widespread layoffs. With the wind tax credit aside, he notes that clean energy is seeing bipartisan support.

JPMorgan case shows why energy trading schemes are chronic problem
JPMorgan's electricity trading operation was accused of bid-rigging by the California Independent System Operator. In an earlier column, the LA Times explained how the alleged scheme in 2010 and 2011 may have cost California ratepayers as much as $200 million. This month, FERC charged JPMorgan with dodging their request for financial information in connection with the pending investigation.

Last week, Gov. Jerry Brown signed 19 renewable energy bills aimed at making it easier to provide renewable energy and conserve power in California. Gov. Brown also vetoed energy-related bills, including a measure that would create a new Clean Energy Economy and Jobs Incentive Program to provide financial help for the manufacturing of clean-energy technology.
