Why the natural gas lobby is wooing the clean power industry

The American Gas Association (AGA) is displaying some positive outreach to the clean power industry. The gesture was on full display at the Renewable Energy Finance Forum where a representative from the AGA sat on a panel at the clean power conference. There is no ignoring natural gas, and in an election year with energy independence and job creation as hot topics, working together will be especially important.

Last week marked the launch of the nation’s largest PACE program (CaliforniaFIRST) which will allow commercial property owners in 140 California cities and counties to invest in energy and water saving upgrades with no upfront costs. The program is being run by Oakland-based Renewable Funding for the California Statewide Communities Development Authority (CSCDA).

The Senate unanimously passed key provisions of two major energy efficiency bills as amendments to the Enabling Energy Savings Innovations Act (H.R. 4850) last week. The amendments included industrial and federal agency energy efficiency provisions from the Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act (S. 1000).
