Residential Energy Consumption Per Household Dropping in US
According to the latest results from the Residential Energy Consumption Survey (RECS) the average household has reduced its energy consumption. Some of the downward trend is due to improvements in efficiency for space heating, air conditioning, and major appliances. Newer homes are also built with better insulation and other characteristics that improve the building envelope. The SunShot Grand Challenge: Summit and Technology Forum is the first event in a series of Department of Energy Grand Challenges that organizers hope will address barriers and achieve some breakthroughs in the clean energy market. While the U.S. does have some obvious political gridlock, they also have incredible potential for innovation. Trilliant, the Redwood City-based smart grid networking company announced a partnership with systems integrator Comintel and Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Malaysia’s biggest utility. Trilliant, which has raised about $146 million from investors and strategic investors like Swiss grid giant ABB and Taiwanese chip maker United Microelectronics. |
