Los Angeles Saves Millions With LED Street Light Deployment
February marks the four-year anniversary of Los Angeles’ LED street light conversion where 140,000 street lights were upgraded. Earlier this week, the Los Angeles Bureau of Street Lighting published an update on the project, here are the results: 114,067 units replaced, $5,325,793 in annual electricity savings, and 63.3% electricity savings over the incumbent high-pressure sodium (HPS) street lights.

The advanced biofuels business is on the rise and the U.S. has maintained a lead on the rest of the world with regard to technology. According to DuPont Industrial Biosciences Director for Biorefineries Jan Koninckx, the federal government must implement policy in order for the U.S. to keep this leading position.

TruSolar, a new industry consortium of solar’s leading players, wants to make it easier for banks to finance solar. Presently, less than 5% t of the 6,500 banks in the U.S. will finance solar. TruSolar plans to create a score (like a credit rating) with standardized ratings for every significant element in a project. The end result would be a score telling financial institutions and investors what its relative risk is.
