After an
interim leadership role, Brian Olson has been named chief executive of
Irvine-based Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide. Before taking on the
new position, Olson had served as Quantum’s finance chief since 2002. Presently
Quantum is refocusing solely on the automotive sector - the company supplies
Anaheim-based Fisker Automotive Inc. with hybrid drive systems.
U.S. Bancorp has funded SolarCity for the sixth time
which further expands the third-party ownership sector of the rooftop solar PV
business. This most recent funding is the bank’s largest thus far and is enough
to finance as much as $250 million in PV projects for residences, businesses
and public buildings.
A team of German researchers are looking to methanol, used
in the late 20th century when it gained some traction as a blend-in to
gasoline, as transportation alt-fuel by packaging it as a way to use carbon
dioxide. The process could help reduce the CO2 emissions by 50%.
