Cree launches an LED bulb for under $10
They say it’s “the biggest thing since the light bulb” – Cree’s trademarked phrase. The LED chip and parts maker Cree has launched a line of low cost LED bulbs and one even retails for under $10, that’s about $10 less that some of the cheapest LED bulbs on the market. Until now, Cree made the bulk of its revenue from of selling LED chips and components to other LED bulb and lighting makers. The company is profitable and hopes the new bulbs will continue revenue growth.

A new report from the Bipartisan Policy Center cites huge potential for energy efficiency as a major U.S. resource that need not be a political issue. In California, efficiency efforts since the 1970s have saved taxpayers over $65 billion, decreased household electricity bills, and avoided at least 30 power plants. California is an excellent example of the benefits of bipartisan support for energy efficiency.
