ARPA-E backs 66 projects: energy beets, fabric wind blades, dust devils
The ARPA-E program has that announced 66 new energy-related projects will get small amounts of funding as well as mentorship from the DOE. The Open 2012 program will allocate $130 million to help various groups with innovations in cleaner, more efficient transportation as well as energy generation and consumption. T3 Secures $4.3M in Debt Financing
T3 Motion, a Costa Mesa-based electric vehicle company, has secured $4.3 million in debt financing from unnamed private investors. The company makes three-wheeled cruisers and plans to use the funds for general working capital purposes, including purchase parts, sales and marketing, and R&D.

Newlight Appoints Jim Lunt, Global Expert in Biopolymers, as Vice President of Product Development
Costa Mesa-based Newlight Technologies recently announced that Jim Lunt, a leading expert in biopolymer commercial development, will join the team as Vice President of Product Development. Newlight was founded in 2003 and has a technology that pulls carbon and oxygen molecules out of air containing greenhouse gas and converts those molecules into sustainable plastics.
