Start-Up Boulder Wind Power on the Verge of a Big Deal?

Boulder WindPower (BWP), a power electronics and generator start-up, has completed a test for its innovative permanent magnet direct drive wind turbine generator. In order to take their concept to the next level, the company is now working on deals with several international wind turbine OEMs that will see its technology through prototype testing and commercialization.

 

MIT Solar Funnel Aims To Grab More Sun Power

Researchers at MIT have created a way to gather more of the sun’s energy for solar power – a solar funnel. The technology, demonstrated via computer modeling, uses electronic forces to exert its concentrating power. “Elastic strain” drives the concept – straining a material in order to shift its properties to enhance ability and then to collect the charge that is created.

GE’s industrial internet is really (mostly) about energy efficiency

GE is making a rebranding effort in the digital technology industry in order to reduce energy consumption and better manage resources. With their focus on highly energy-reliant processes, GE is looking for cost savings in digital technologies. For example, implementing digital and sensor technologies could help the commercial aviation industry reduce fuel use by 1%, which is a savings of $30 billion over 15 years.
