The discussion about smart cities often include smart buildings, smart grids, etc. and less about smart water systems and the need to develop more efficient approaches to water as a resource. With urbanization accelerating, water consumption could increase by 40% by 2030 – this staggering statistic is shifting the smart city planning focus to the importance of water management.


GE Still Dominates US Wind Manufacturing but New Faces Are Emerging
GE has been the long-time leader in supplying wind turbines to the US domestic market but new competitors are emerging across the globe. The increased competition can be directly attributed to a wind industry boom and illustrated by a growing list of manufacturers supplying the domestic turbine market which grew more in 2011 than in any year since 2008.


Calif. Assemblyman Mike Gatto’s green fuels bill passes key hurdle
California Assembly Bill 1900, authored by Assemblyman Mike Gatto (D-Los Angeles), passed the Assembly Committee on Utilities and Commerce on Monday. The bill would change the state’s rules for Renewable Natural Gas - some say the current rules are bizarre and counter-productive.
