Organic waste recycling draws $110M from Gore, Kleiner & First Solar Chief
Harvest Power is raising $110 million from investors to expand its facilities that turn organic waste into fertilizer and energy. Harvest Power’s technology not only produces fertilizers, but also biogas that can be used to produce electricity or be processed into compressed natural gas for transportation fuel.

Oakland, CA solar power plant developer BrightSource Energy announced on Wednesday that they will withdraw its IPO due to poor market conditions. The decision to abandon the IPO plan unfortunately may reflect poorly solar companies in general to attract investors.

Smart-thermostat maker Nest Labs responds to Honeywell's patent infringement suit (claiming that Nest infringed on several of its patents) by claiming Honeywell's broad patents are invalid. Nest Labs has also hired Apple's former chief patent counsel, Richard Lutton Jr., in preparation for a legal fight with Honeywell in the years ahead.
