Amory Lovins suggests that if we were to combine new technology through integrated design the results would yield a clean energy innovation. Perhaps the reason that this process is so slow is due to government regulations - if the idea of change was placed on local level real progress could be made more quickly. Energy Points Launches Universal Metric for Sustainability (via greentechmedia.com) To fill a void, former HelioFocus CEO Ory Zik established Energy Points, a universal metric for measuring sustainability. Rather than a rating system, which already exists, Energy Points aims to cover every aspect of sustainability in to an easy to understand data set producing a single common measurement. Nanosolar raises $20M to see if it can still compete (via gigaom.com) After using millions of dollars in funding, Nanosolar draws even more investors - to the tune of $20 million. The company, which had been known for not delivering on promises, recently made progress on scaling up production of its copper-indium-gallium-selenide (CIGS) solar panels. Even with faithful investors, it is still uncertain if Nanosolar can become a major solar player. |
